The Hands of Rodin

Years ago I visited the Rodin Museum in Paris. I learned he produced numerous versions of many of his bronzes - starting with a smaller versions and progressing ever larger, seemingly identical.

Recently the MFA had a show "Rodin and the Age of Impressionism" with many unfamiliar bronzes, (at least to me), along with Impressionist works of contemporary artists in other media. It was expertly curated and a wonderful show.

For the first time, I was drawn to making some pictures of various works. Not a “documentary shot" of the statue but something, somehow more interesting, and personal. I was obliquely aware I was focusing on hands, that only became clear when looking at the images I produced.
